Theft from vehicle prevention tips

Good afternoon,

A timely reminder on how to prevent your vehicle being a target for opportunists to break into and steal what you have left inside.

Lock your vehicle:

Always lock your vehicle, even if you are only leaving it for a few moments.

Double-check that windows, sunroofs and doors are fully secured.

Remove all valuables:

Do not leave handbags, wallets, phones, laptops, tools, sat navs or loose change in your vehicle.

Take valuables with you or lock them out of sight before you go home, do not leave them on seats.

Remember that charging cables, phone holders and sat nav mounts can indicate valuables may be stored inside.

Keep car keys safe:

Store vehicle keys away from doors and windows at home.

Consider using a signal-blocking pouch (Faraday pouch) for keyless entry vehicles to help prevent relay theft.

Report suspicious behaviour:

If you see anyone acting suspiciously around parked vehicles in your area, report it. CCTV or ring doorbell evidence is best.

In an emergency or if a crime is in progress, call 999.

For non-emergency information, report via 101 or TVP report online.
